Daniel H. Van Eaton
There are many issues involved in a divorce proceeding. We assist our divorce clients by providing them with advice in regards to spousal support (alimony), division of assets, child custody, child support, and visitation. This is a difficult time period for our clients and we always do our best to help make their lives a little easier.
There are several factors the court uses to determine which parent receives primary custody over their children. There is still the presumption that the primary caregiver should be given custody. The state uses a formula to determine how much money a parent must provide for child support. The more time a non-custodial parent spends with their child the less they have to pay for child support.
In the state of Oregon, it is difficult, but not impossible for grandparents to obtain visitation rights for their grandchildren. Grandparents are treated the same as any third party (psychological parent), such as a foster parent. They must show that their grandchildren’s parents are providing inadequate care. Contact our lawyer to determine if you might be able to obtain grandparent visitation rights.
We exclusively limit our practice to family law issues. To schedule an initial consultation with a family law attorney from our office, contact us today. For your convenience, we are easily accessible. In fact, our clients are free to contact us at any time; day or night. Your lawyer should always be easily accessible to you.
